Individuality and pluralism co-exist within these Specimen Boards. Each of the three-inch paintings is unique, as they are displayed within a community of twenty-four others. The magnetic square tiles can be rearranged in any order, per the whim of the spectator, creating a myriad of different viewing possibilities. Closer inspection reveals that these specimens are pinned down to their backgrounds, indicating their lifelessness, a subtle reminder of the mortality of organic life.
